From my personal experience and observation, I've recently come to recognize there are three types of men- one who cowers, one who bullies, and one who stands.
A coward, when faced with the darkness of the world, hides. Whether it's the darkness within or the darkness without, he'll hide behind anyone. When he cowers, he'll even hide behind women and children, making them vulnerable to evil to save himself.
A bully, on the other hand, will stomp all over the more vulnerable in order to make himself feel powerful. It doesn't matter who is stepped on, man, woman, or child. Faced with his own darkness, he lashes and thrashes like a wounded animal at anyone around him. He is himself darkness.
But a man who stands does not shirk away when darkness lurks. He bids his time and faces darkness to achieve the most effective impact. If the darkness is within, he faces it too, without lashing out like the bully or blaming like the coward.
